or simply the selecting diving partners.

Diving for people with disabilities doesn’t require special preparation from the organizer if you have someone on your team who understands the divers’ potential needs. Adaptive Support and Adaptive Leader are specializations that teach how to prepare and manage the dive to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

First and foremost, learn as much as possible about special needs directly from the person you plan to dive with. After proper training, the diver is well-prepared to provide the knowledge necessary to prepare equipment and conduct a comfortable dive with them.

Adaptive certification levels require greater security for the diving team. This involves selecting appropriate diving partners.

Each Adaptive certification level is designated as a LEVEL. The number indicating the certification level also indicates how many and which dive partners to assign to a given team. The higher the number, the more qualified partners you will need in your team.

Follow our tips to conduct a safe dive and meet the standards. Below, you’ll find guidelines summarized to help you with this preparation:

Adaptive Junior Open Water Diver

Level 1 – in the company of a diving buddy with a Divemaster rating.

 

Level 2 – in the company of two diving buddies, one of whom is a Divemaster and the other an IDF Adaptive Leader or Rescue Diver.

 

Adaptive Scuba Diver

Level 1 – in the company of two diving buddies, one of whom is a Divemaster and the other an IDF Adaptive Leader or Rescue Diver.

 

Level 2 – in the company of two diving partners, one of whom is an Instructor and the other an IDF Adaptive Leader or Rescue Diver.

Adaptive Open Water Diver & Adaptive Advanced Open Water Diver

Level 1 – in the company of a diving buddy with a IDF Adaptive Leader or Rescue Diver.

Level 2 – in the company of two diving partners with the IDF Adaptive Leader specialization or Rescue Diver qualification.

Level 3 – in the company of two diving partners with Rescue Diver qualifications.

Level 4 –in the company of two diving partners, one of whom is a Divemaster and the other a Rescue Diver.

Adaptive Deep Diver

Level 1 – in the company of two diving buddies, one of whom holds the IDF Adaptive Leader certification with the Deep Diver specialization or the Rescue certification, and the other a Rescue certification with the Deep Diver specialization.

Level 2 – in the company of two diving partners, one of whom is a Divemaster and the other a Rescue Diver (both divers with the Deep Diver specialization).
