Alessandro Reato

Alessandro is cartographer, explorer and cave diving instructor since 2008, based in Mexico.

He explored and reported more than 76 km of passages in some of the world’s largest cave systems, and he is an active member of Quintana Roo Speleological Survey.

He participated as an explorer in the hydrological research project of underwater caves in the X’cacel area, directed by the University of Quintana Roo. He participated as an underwater cave cartographer in various projects under the directions of Instituto Nacional de AntropologĂ­a e Historia de Mexico, the University of Quintana Roo and the Gran Acuifero Maya.

He has independently published various detailed maps of more than 28 kilometers of underwater caves, some of them awarded at the National Speleological Society Cartographic Salon in the United States: Hol Kin in 2011, Minotauro in 2014, Kalag Dzonot – Upstream in 2021 and Downstream in 2023.

He published a detailed map of the Turtle Tomb Cave System, Sipadan, Malaysia in 2024.
