Jean-Luc Userstam is a specialist in deep and technical diving, known for his extensive experience in extreme environments and his strong commitment to diver training. Passionate about the underwater world since 1997, he has accumulated over 3,000 hours on rebreathers, developing an advanced level of expertise in this highly technical field.
In 2018, he took part in the Lanoux Expedition as a deep diver. This scientific mission focused on studying human heat loss during high-altitude rebreather dives. Operating at 2,600 metres above sea level, he completed five dives deeper than 80 meters, contributing to valuable data on the combined effects of cold, depth, and altitude on the human body.
A seasoned explorer, Jean-Luc has also conducted numerous cave dives, reaching depths beyond 250 meters in demanding environments requiring precision, autonomy, and impeccable technical skills. Throughout his progression, the use of dual-rebreather configurations has become one of his core competencies, enabling him to operate safely in some of the most challenging extreme environments.
As a CCR instructor certified on IQsub rebreathers, he dedicates a significant part of his time to training advanced technical divers. His mission is to instill a culture of safety, precision, and excellence, and to help shape the next generation of divers capable of mastering complex environments.
Outside the diving world, Jean-Luc works as an automotive technician for premium car brands, a field where precision, reliability, and high standards reinforce his meticulous approach to technical diving.
