João Neves

João has over 40 years of experience in cave exploration. He was the first cave diver in Portugal and one of the world’s first trimix divers and instructors. During his 40-year career as an instructor, he represented one of the world’s largest diving federations in Portugal for 35 years and trained hundreds of divers and dozens of instructors (including Christian Thomas, whose books later laid the foundation for the development of cave diving in France). João is not only the driving force and originator of current cave exploration in Portugal, but also the inventor and designer of diving equipment.
