Mikko is a Finnish-born explorer, underwater camera operator, and CCR Instructor Trainer. His professional diving career started at the Ojamo Mine in Finland in the late 1990s, but he is now based in Thailand, where he has run his dive center, Koh Tao Divers, for more than twenty five years. Mikko is a member of The Explorers Club and the founder of the Bottomline Projects NGO, as well as an ambassador for several foundations and dive equipment brands. When not training CCR divers, he spends his time working on various projects documenting wrecks, caves and flooded mines across Europe and Asia.
He has been involved in multiple film productions (National Geographic, Disney, YLE, Discovery, etc.) and is probably best known for his key role in the word-famous Thai cave rescue in 2018, for which he was awarded the Knight Grand Cross (First Class) by the King of Thailand and a Life Saving Medal from the President of Finland.
