Why take a course?
Adding helium to the respiratory mixture is a solution that allows not only to increase the depth (if we also reduce the oxygen level to a safe level), but also to reduce narcosis. A sober mind, on the other hand, is a valuable tool for a diver who plans to perform more complicated tasks during the dive and at great depths, such as wreck penetration or cave rescue. Trimix is a way to increase your own safety and at the same time gain completely new possibilities.
What will you learn?
During your training you will learn how to plan your dives using helium mixtures and how to choose a mixture that will not only provide you with a safe, depth-adapted level of partial pressure of oxygen, but also control the narcotic level of the whole mixture by regulating the amount of nitrogen by replacing it with helium. During training dives, you will improve your diving skills with two side cylinders of decompression gases – from deploying and retrieving the cylinders, through handing them over to your diving partner, to implementing various emergency scenarios set by the instructor.
What do you need to start?
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Sufficient swimming ability
- Health condition to participate in the course
- IDF Extended Range Diver certificate or equivalent
- Minimum 200 logged in dives, of which at least 40 in depths greater than 40 metres
What is the course?
What will you be entitled to after the course?
Upon completion of the IDF Trimix Diver training, you will be qualified for decompression diving to a depth of 65 meters using helium mixtures with an oxygen content of not less than 18%.
IDF certificate
Upon completion of the training, you will receive an internationally recognised certificate confirming your qualifications. It is a plastic card with a unique number and watermark. In addition, you will have lifelong access to an individual panel on the IDF website, where your certificate will always be available in electronic form - in case you ever forget to take the original with you for diving.
What next?
The last training that deals with diving on helium-enriched mixtures is the IDF Full Trimix Diver course. Unlike the Trimix Diver level, which allows for the use of normoxic mixtures, the Full Trimix Diver level includes dives on hypoxic mixtures where the oxygen level and the remaining composition is dictated by the depth and the diver’s preferences for managing the narcotic properties of the gas mixture.
